Democratized Data:

An initiative launched to make public information accessible and comprehensible to all members of the community.

The Data Democratization Committee defined Data Democracy as the only availability of publicly held data to all community members who have access to a computer.  This also means that public information is released in a way that helps people understand community issues and evaluate progress toward community goals, so long as this information does not violate community members' right to confidentiality.

Under Democratized Data, community members would also have the ability to create and display their own information about their communities, so long as this creation/display does not violate the government's obligation to the public interest.

Indicator:

A measurement of Mid-Michigan Community progress in intellectual and social development, economy, health, safety, environment and community life.

Statistic:

A numerical value that characterizes the sample or population from which it was derived.

Survey:

A gathering data or opinions considered to be representative of a whole.
